Philip is the Product and Innovation Legal Director for Large Loss. The main aspect of his role is being the lead for PREDiCT Large Loss – our augmented intelligence claims handling tool. PREDiCT uses a data driven approach, which augments handler expertise to drive consistency of reserving and decision making, improving claims performance by accelerating lifecycles and reducing overall indemnity spend. Philip’s role sits at the intersection of business operational requirements, product development, and client facing responsibilities.

In addition, Philip handles a small caseload of large loss claims. As a member of the large loss team, Philip has considerable experience dealing with cases with complicated indemnity issues and liability disputes. Philip in particular acts for key clients dealing with complex orthopaedic cases, in addition to cases with complicating factors, mild traumatic brain injury, and chronic pain. He is well known for pro-active, commercial and pragmatic approach to claims, to ensure optimal resolution at the earliest possible opportunity.

Prior to working in Large Loss, Philip qualified into the commercial insurance team, working on a variety of employers’ liability, public liability, product liability and stress claims.

Philip has specific expertise in cycling, e-bikes and e-scooters claims, and has written numerous articles for internal and external publication, and has also provided numerous training seminars and presentations internally, and to external clients. He is also a member of the firm’s internal advocacy unit, and regularly conducts case management and procedural hearings, and interlocutory applications.

Outside of work Philip is a keen golfer and wine enthusiast, with a WSET level 2 qualification.
