Paul is a Partner in the Insolvency and Recoveries team and is based at our Liverpool offices.

Paul was called to the Bar in 2007 before cross-qualifying as a Solicitor with Higher Rights in 2013. Paul is an experienced litigation solicitor, having worked in the industry for over 18 years. Before joining Weightmans, he was previously the Head of Litigation for a Canary Wharf based firm and an Associate Director at a national recoveries firm. Paul has represented global and national entities and regularly acts for lenders, asset finance companies and invoice discounting and factoring providers. His advocacy experience gives him an added insight and he is keen to ensure that straightforward and outcome-focused advice is provided to clients. 

McAlpine Limited v Richardson Roofing Company Limited [2022] EWHC 982 (TCC). Successfully opposed the Claimant’s application to the Technology & Construction Court for a declaration that its solicitors’ service of particulars of claim by email constituted valid service for the purposes of PD6A.4.

Re: A Company [2024] EWCA Civ 1436. Acted for the successful Respondent in the Court of Appeal. The decision clarified that a winding-up petition is only deemed to be validly presented when it is both delivered to the Court and when the deposit for the Official Receiver has been paid.
