Leona Roberts

Leona joined Weightmans in November 2024 and has extensive experience of acting on police disciplinary cases across the country. 

She has advised on the entire breadth of gross misconduct investigations, hearings, and any associated appeal before the Police Appeals (Disciplinary) Tribunal. Leona has acted on Judicial Review challenges arising from gross misconduct proceedings and has recent experience of pursuing a legal challenge to the Supreme Court. Leona has provided advice on numerous accelerated gross misconduct hearings.

She has been recognised as an Associate to Watch in Chambers and Partners UK since 2022. She has experience of working on sensitive and operationally complex matters involving police shootings, sexual impropriety, and deaths in custody. Leona is often instructed to prepare written advice on issues such as vetting, Regulation 13, pre-attestation conduct and business interests.

Leona provides misconduct training nationally and regularly provides inputs to ensure force compliance with the College of Policing’s Authorised Professional Practice for post-incident procedures following a death or serious injury.
