Kirsty is a Principal Associate in our health and care team based in our Newcastle office, providing support across the national team.

Kirsty has significant experience working in the Court of Protection, Inherent Jurisdiction, community care and Judicial Review spheres. She has frequently acted on Court of Protection health and welfare cases as well as serious medical treatment cases, access to healthcare and the interface of the mental health and mental capacity act. Kirsty has particular expertise in detained individuals who are autistic and/or have a learning disability in Assessment and Treatment Units (known as ATUs) as well as cases involving deprivation of liberty and has conducted cases involving complex litigation for High Court matters. Additionally to her role, Kirsty is also chair of the Law Society’s Mental Health and Disability Committee and a member of the Law Society Policy and Regulatory Affairs Committee, through which she provided oral evidence to the Joint Committee on the draft mental health bill
