Fiona Chapman

Fiona is a Principal Associate part of our disease team based in our Newcastle upon Tyne office.

Fiona has over 20 years experience in defending Personal Injury Claims for the insurance sector and commercial business dealing with employers liability,  public liability and industrial disease claims before specialising into Marine Claims for  P&I club and Shipowners.

Her client base primarily is managing marine industry industrial disease claims which are subject to highly specialist governance and coverage. Her niche practice involves legacy claims, mesothelioma, asbestosis, vibration white finger and hearing loss.  

The complexities associated with managing legacy claims with very serious diseases involve understanding the market and P&I clubs (who are not governed in the same way as Insurers); investigating historical exposure; assessing the evidential risks; securing expert medical evidence to inform quantification and navigating the litigation process with the appropriate coverage to meet the liability.

 

She has experience of dealing with Scottish (pre litigation) claims
