Facing stiff competition from a list of reputable law and consultancy firms, and accountants, Weightmans came out on top and was singled out for its work to support youth mental health, diversity and inclusion, social mobility, as well as the collaborations it has forged with other businesses and local authorities.

The Apprenticeship Guide Awards 2024 were developed to celebrate excellence in the apprenticeships space, from employers to training providers and beyond.

Helen Taylor, HR director at Weightmans, said:

“Weightmans prides itself on the innovative work it does to nurture and develop future talent. We see the possibility in our people from the very start of their careers and understand that investing in and supporting them gives the best preparation for a long and successful career.

“We are well over a decade since we launched our original apprenticeship programme, which was a game-changer at the time. It is great to see that all these years later we are still being recognised in this area.”

Lucy Hunte, chair of the judging panel, said:

"As head judge, I had the privilege of reading and evaluating the applications for the first ever Apprenticeship Guide Awards. It was both an honour and a joy to witness the outstanding contributions of individuals and teams across the categories, each exemplifying excellence and innovation in the apprenticeship sector.”

It comes after Weightmans was awarded Top Employer status by global body, Top Employers Institute for the 17th year in a row — entering the top ten rankings once again in 2024, in recognition of its people-centric policies. The company is also ranked at number 20 in the 2023 Employer Index, an annual list showing how employers perform on eight areas of employer-led social mobility.
