Experienced public law and human rights solicitor is the latest addition to Weightmans’ Newcastle healthcare team.
Formerly of Irwin Mitchell, Kirsty Stuart joins as new regulatory healthcare advisory principal associate, and will work to reinforce the firm’s wider healthcare regulatory practice nationally, and in the North East specifically.
Boasting over 15 years’ experience in the sector, her practice is in mental health, mental capacity, judicial review and public law, with a special interest in development of the law to secure appropriate community packages for patients who are autistic and/or have a learning disability, and who are detained in Mental Health Assessment and Treatment Units.
Kirsty is also the current chair of the Law Society Mental Health and Disability Committee, as well as being a member of the Law Society Policy and Regulatory Affairs Committee.
Kirsty Stuart, regulatory healthcare advisory principal associate, Weightmans, said:
“I am thrilled to be joining Weightmans as its reputation for getting results for its clients, particular in this sector, is unmatched. I am sure my years of experience, as well as the relationships I’ve grown in that time, will prove hugely beneficial to the team and the firm’s growth ambitions.”
Welcoming Kirsty to the firm, Richard Jolly, partner and head of health at Weightmans, said:
“Kirsty is another significant appointment to our health segment and represents the next stage in the development of our North East healthcare practice. Her expertise, especially in the wider mental health market, will be a real asset to our client offering both regionally and nationally. I wish her a very warm welcome and I’m excited to see her excel in the role.”
Kirsty’s appointment comes on the back of several key hires and big client wins for the health segment during 2024.
