The claimant and his girlfriend were run over by our client as they got out of a taxi. Our client was charged with failing to stop and failing to report an accident. The claimant sustained a brain injury. His girlfriend sustained significant but less serious injuries.
In addition, there was a claim for nervous shock by the claimant’s mother who, on hearing the accident, came out onto the street to see her son close to death, bleeding profusely and in a coma. As a result, she developed post traumatic shock herself.
So, there were 3 very separate claims with very different legal considerations. We were able to settle all 3 claims very quickly resulting in a significant saving in legal costs.
