Colin is a partner in the firm's London Market
team.
Before joining Weightmans he was a partner in
the insurance and reinsurance group at London law firm Lawrence
Graham, and before that he worked at London law firm Davies Arnold
Cooper.
He specialises in insurance and reinsurance
policy coverage advice and related disputes.
Colin regularly advises on policy coverage,
aggregation, notification, allocation, loss/follow settlements,
rights of inspection, and issues relating to possible avoidance,
affirmation, waiver and rectification.
He is experienced in conducting arbitration,
litigation and/or mediation, both in London and
internationally.
He is responsible for the team’s reinsurance
collection service, being very experienced in making collections
from reinsurers throughout the globe.
Colin has considerable experience of advising
in relation to large scale industrial property damage and business
interruption claims involving thing such as smelters, transformers,
boilers, furnaces, mines, warehouses, factories and the like.
He also advises on claims involving brokers,
directors & officers, financial institutions, political risk
and product liability.
His clients include London Market and
international insurance and reinsurance companies, Lloyd's
syndicates, brokers and run-off managers.
He has handled disputes involving entities in
North America, Western Europe, Scandinavia, South America, the
Middle East and the Far East.
Colin is recommended for insurance and
reinsurance litigation in the UK Legal 500 directory (2007 and 2008
editions). He is a member of the British Insurance Law Association
('BILA') and an international member of the Federation of Defense
& Corporate Counsel ('FDCC') in the USA.
He regularly speaks at seminars on insurance
and reinsurance issues and contributes to the insurance and
reinsurance press.
