Weightmans and Baker Tilly see more success for their computer games developer clients
National law firm Weightmans LLP and national accountancy
practice Baker Tilly have just completed...
...on behalf of the shareholders of Media
Molecule Limited (“Media Molecule”), the disposal of the entire
share capital of Media Molecule to Sony Computer Entertainment
Europe Limited (“Sony”) for an undisclosed sum.
Acting for the shareholders of Media Molecule in the
transaction, the Weightmans team was led by Corporate Partner John
Schorah and the Baker Tilly team was led by Tax Partner Colin
Abrahams out of their Manchester Office.
John Schorah said: “I am delighted for shareholders and the
employees of Media Molecule. It is a gem of a development studio
and achieved so much in its first four years of business.
“This is the latest of a number of our developer clients in
recent years that we have been involved with since their inception
and seen grow from smalls start ups to attract and ultimately be
acquired by large publishers including Venom Games to Take Two,
Swordfish Studios to Vivendi, Juice Games to THQ and FreestyleGames
to Activision.
“This is the second deal in this sector we have worked with
Baker Tilly on and it’s a partnership that works very well.”
Colin Abrahams said: “We were delighted to play our part in
successfully completing this transaction. Media Molecule is
undoubtedly one of the great success stories within the UK Computer
Games Industry.
“Working alongside John Schorah and the team from Weightmans,
with their niche expertise in the sector, was a definite plus.”
