Update on leading (Re)Insurance cases
Venue: Lloyd's Old Library, Lime Street, London EC3
Wednesday, March 24, 2010
The last twelve months have seen the long
awaited judgments from the House of Lords in the reinsurance cases
of Wasa v Lexington and the high profile
Commercial Court ruling in Equitas v R&Q.
In addition, there were important insurance
decisions involving the liability of producing and placing brokers
(Dunlop Haywards & Others v Barbon Insurance Group
& Others); material change in the nature of the risk
(Ansari v New India Assurance Ltd); the ability of
an insured to recover for wilful and fraudulent acts
(Porter v Zurich; Direct Line v Fox) and breach of
warranty (Ward v Catlin).
In this seminar Colin Peck and Ling Ong,
partners in the London Market Team at Weightmans LLP, will review
various recent key court decisions and discuss the impact of these
cases on a practical level.
